Als ich diesen Schuber mit vermutlich drei, vier Pfund Papier kaufte, war ich mir nicht so ganz sicher, ob ich nicht am Ende mit Hunderten Seiten Finanzkauderwelsch dastehen und als Laie nichts verstehen würde. Diese Bedenken waren aber rasch vergessen. Talebs Bücher sind alles andere als Fachliteratur, als eng gedachte Analysen von Vorgängen der Finanz- und Aktienwelt.In der Beschreibung zum Buch heißt es: „luck, uncertainty, probability, opacity, human error, risk, disorder, and decision-making in a world we don’t understand“. Das umreißt trefflich den weiten Blick Talebs und auch seine ganz unkonventionelle (und ketzerische) Herangehensweise.Ich will nicht behaupten, dass ich immer alles genau verstanden habe. Bei den wenigen Stellen, die dann doch einmal etwas verzwicktere Vorgänge der Finanzwelt beleuchten, musste ich mich mit einer eher wackeligen Ahnung zufriedengeben – konnte aber immer dem allgemeinen Gedankenflug Talebs folgen. (Zudem ermutigt der Autor seine Leser ausdrücklich, solche Passagen zu überspringen.)Taleb schreibt mit Verve und Überzeugung, er ist ein ätzender Spötter und weltläufiger Genießer, und hin und wieder reizt er einen mit seiner Lässigkeit und spielerischen Arroganz zu einem saftigen Fluch nach innen. Doch dann nimmt er einen stets aufs Neue mit seinem Witz, seinem Esprit und der Breite seiner Gedanken ein.Kurz: es lohnt sich!(Einzig die Aphorismensammlung „The Bed of Procrustes“ ist – wie die meisten Aphorismensammlungen – nach meiner bescheidenen Meinung verzichtbar.)
