This book was so much more than I expected. The story about the rainbow flag’s creation was incredible, profound, heartfelt and hilarious. But what was surprising was the epic, historical sweeping story of the burgeoning gay rights movement. Baker’s life story has uncanny relevance to the issues all minorities face today. The story of how he and his cohorts outfoxed Mayor Giuliani is priceless. The best part of this whole book, though, is how well it is written. Baker, a great artist, is a wonderful writer. The stories he tells are far greater than the sum of of their collective parts. In the end it is a profoundly philosophical statement about art and politics.

Give this book to every young person you know - it’s so important that we all know what the rainbow flag represented in 1978, so that we understand and respect its evolution. Thanks for telling the story with warmth, humor and urgency!
