He started the Thiel Fellowship, which ignited a national debate by encouraging young people to put learning before schooling, and he leads the Thiel Foundation, which works to advance technological progress and long- term thinking about the future. Blake Masters was a student at Stanford Law School in 2012 when his detailed notes on Peter’s class “Computer Science 183: Startup” became an internet sensation. He went on to co-found Judicata, a legal research technology startup.

In dem Buch erklärt der Facebook-Investor und Paypal-Gründer Peter Thiel seine Perspektive zum Thema Innovation und Startups. Das gelingt ihm ausgesprochen gut, denn er schafft es intellektuelle Tiefe mit geschliffenen Erklärungen zu vereinbaren. In einer Zeit in der überall mit dem Buzzword "Innovation" um sich geworfen wird, hilft Peter Thiel unsere Vorstellung von technischem Fortschritt wieder gerade zu rücken.Für mich persönlich waren die Top-3-Erkenntnisse aus diesem Buch:- Der Unterschied zwischen Innovation (0 to 1) und Globalisierung (1 to n)- Warum so viele erfolgreiche neue Firmen aus USA kommen und nicht aus Europa- Warum wir zwar Twitter und Facebook haben, wir aber trotzdem jeden Tag im Stau stehen. Oder anders gesagt: warum der Fortschritt von Branche zu Branche so unterschiedlich schnell istInsgesamt absolut lesenswert für alle, die mit Innovation, Startups oder ähnlichem zu tun haben, oder sich einfach nur gerne über die Zukunft nachdenken.

Die ersten 58 Seiten sind extrem wertvoll, dann ein Durchhaenger, nochmal ein sehr wertvoller Teil und das Ende auch noch mit einem Durchhaenger. Es werden wichtige Fragen gestellt, die mir beim Design eines Geschaeftsmodells sehr helfen. Es wird auch herausgestellt, auf was Thiel als Investor achtet und einige red flags erwaehnt. Insgesamt lesenswert.

Wer ernsthaft darüber nachdenkt, ein Start-Up zu gründen, für den ist dieses Buch etwas. Peter Thiel gibt sehr wertvolle Tipps und stellt Fragen, die man sich stellen sollte, wenn man sein eigenes Unternehmen gründet.

Ein sehr interessantes Buch, da Thiel einige Thesen aufstellt, die der Lehrbuchmeinung widersprechen, z. B., dass Monopole gut sind bzw. dass vollkommener Wettbewerb nicht erstrebenswert ist.Auch die wichtige Bedeutung der Rolle des Vertriebs, der Bedeutung der Unternehmenskultur und die Suche nach einem „Geheimnis“ unterstreicht er eindrücklich.Wer verstehen will, was manche wenigen Start Ups erfolgreich macht, dem empfehle ich dieses Buch.

Das Buch ist sehr verständlich geschrieben.Wirklich interessant, die Gedanken eines eingestandenen des Sillicon Valleys bzw der gesamten Denkweise des Sillicon Valleys zu lesen und überblicken.Jeder der plant ein eigenes Buisness aufzubauen oder einfach mal einen Einblick in das gesamte Thema zu bekommen, dem kann ich dieses Buch nur ans Herz legen.

Ich würde dieses Buch jedem empfehlen, der sich für Innovation, Entrepreneurship und Startups interessiert, weil:- von einem der größten Unternehmern im New Economy Bereich geschrieben wurde- es eine interessante Perspektive darauf gibt, wie man die Welt ein Stückweit verändern könnte- der Autor seine Erkenntnisse aus der Gründung von PayPal auf einfach Art und Weise darstellt- es eher eine Philosophie aufzeigt, als konkret Hinweise zu geben, was getan werden muss, um ein Unternehmer zu gründen. Damit ist es teils sehr viel wertvoller für einen Unternehmer, welche sich in einem komplett neuen Umfeld befindet in dem kaum jemand Erfahrung hat

Peter Thiel geht kurz und knapp auf ein Vielzahl interessanter Faktoren ein die über den Erfolg oder Misserfolg eines Startups entscheiden können.Ich habe mir das Buch gekauft um mehr über die Gründung eines Startups zu erfahren, Das Buch geht dabei zwar nicht ins Detail, dafür enthält es viele Anregungen und Fragen die sich ein jeder Gründer stellen sollte. Ich würde es jedem empfehlen der plant ein Startup zu gründen.

I think Thiel did a good job in laying out what the ingredients for a truly life changing business venture are - to the point, articulate and with clarity.The part about the characteristics of a truly impactful founder left the feeling of an attempt to explain his own nerdiness.In any case I would recommend the book giving one a glimpse into tech space and its vital ingredients for success.
